The Studio Arts (STAR) program at LMU offers a transformative educational experience with a broad conceptual and formal approach to the fundamentals of fine art and design. Our students achieve visual and cultural literacy through individual artistic, creative, and theoretical exploration, all within the context of a liberal arts education.
Studio artists and designers in our program are informed by the intersection of art history, technology, and community-based collaboration. By fully utilizing the creative landscape of Los Angeles, STAR emphasizes interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial engagement through a social justice lens. This student-centric and exhibition-oriented art and design education prepares STAR graduates for careers or postgraduate studies in the fine arts, design, multimedia arts, and art education disciplines.
