LMU School of Film and Television is where you learn how to identify and build your production team. Collaboration is as fundamental to the curriculum as cutting-edge technology. And we keep classes small, so our students work together instead of competing for faculty attention, equipment and facilities access.

This intimate scale means every student who wants to makes a film. You’ll get plenty of hands-on experience with digital Red and Canon C300 cameras, among other pro gear. Two dedicated production stages, a fully outfitted scene shop and a well-appointed lighting and grip department are also at your disposal. Our post-production is completely tapeless; your film lives on a server–you can work on your project from any studio at any phase, from editing to sound design to projection in our state-of-the-art Mayer Theater.

Your film school training will ensure you understand the processes of producing, directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, sound recording and design, and set design. By the time you graduate, you’ll have a comprehensive grasp of the current technologies involved in the creation of film production; you’ll apply learned techniques of film production to create technically accomplished and aesthetically engaging films; and you’ll be able to clearly communicate story, theme and concept in your work.

In addition to these benefits, LMU is set apart by mutual support among students. Collaborating on a production prepares you for a bright future in the entertainment industry and beyond, and it forges bonds that will last a lifetime.
